This is a small static website, and this policy is written to match what's actually true about it — not a generic template.
What the site itself collects
The pages are static files. There are no accounts and no comments. The site uses Umami (cookie-free, self-hosted analytics), described below, and an optional newsletter that stores your email address only if you sign up.
Server logs
Like every website, the server that hosts this site keeps standard access logs — your IP address, the page requested, your browser's user agent, and a timestamp. These exist for security and debugging (spotting abuse, fixing broken pages) and are not used to track you personally. Retention depends on the hosting provider's defaults; this site does not feed them into any analytics product.
Analytics
Pages load Umami, an open-source analytics tool that I host myself at stats.williamlodge.com, on the same server as this site. It counts page views, referrers, and rough location, device, and browser. It sets no cookies and stores no IP addresses or other personal data, and the data is never shared with or sold to anyone.
Newsletter
If you sign up for the newsletter, your email address (and your name, if you give one) is stored on this site's own server using listmonk, a self-hosted, open source mailing list app. It is not sent to any email marketing company. Signing up uses double opt-in: nothing is sent except the confirmation email until you click the link in it. Every newsletter has a one-click unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing (or asking via the contact page) removes you from the list. Your address is never shared or sold.
Third-party requests
Pages load fonts from Google Fonts. When your browser fetches those font files, Google sees your IP address and the page you came from, as it does for any site using the service. If you prefer, browser extensions that block third-party requests will not break the site.
If you click a link to a hosting provider or any other site, you leave this site and the provider's own privacy policy applies from that point.
If you email the site, the message and its headers (including your address) are stored in the mailbox so a reply is possible. Email is not used for marketing, and your address is never shared or sold.
Your choices
Nothing on this site requires you to identify yourself. To exercise any data-related request, use the contact page.
